FTP works w/ the Mid-South Food Bank

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Fresh Touch Publicity (FTP) has partnered with local PR firm Howell Marketing to assist with their 2nd Annual "Good Friday Food Drive" for the Mid-South Food Bank on March 29th. The campaign will include local churches to collect nonperishable canned goods to be picked up on Good Friday by Easy Way Produce delivery trucks. There will be a live food/funds drive on Good Friday at the Easy Way store on Mt. Moriah.

FTP's Owner TJ Jefferson will handle the Social Media Campaign, which #MEMFOOD13 is the official hashtag for the event. Be sure to follow the hashtag and these twitter accounts: @MSouthFoodBank, @FreshTouchPub and @HowellMarketing.

The campaign began last year with Howell Marketing owner Amy Howell tweeting a series of tweets regarding donating to the Mid-South Food Bank. With her 30k plus Twitter followers, she was able to collect about $3000 in funds and a few pounds of food over a two-day period, without any planning. This year, Amy decided to actually plan it. The Mid-South Food Bank has been feeding the need since 1981 to over 300 agencies across 31 counties. Visit www.MidSouthFoodBank.com

FTP Asks Memphians to Simply Give

MEMPHIS, Tenn- Fresh Touch Publicity (FTP) kicked off its 2nd Annual “Simply Giving Project” Nov. 1st, in which Memphians are asked to donate clothes, shoes, food, and money to the Serving In Christ Outreach Ministry (SICOM). These items are considered urgent need items because SICOM, a nonprofit organization, receives requests daily from people in the community needing them.

TJ Jefferson, owner of FTP, felt that it was important to partner with an organization that is in direct contact with the community on a regular basis. Fortunately, SICOM gives food and clothes to the people in the community throughout the year since 2010 when the organization was founded by Memphian Lashanta Rudd. The SICOM facility, headquartered in the Orange Mound area, has a computer room, food pantry, and clothing room to store donated items.

“When I was visiting the SICOM facilities, I witnessed someone calling in need of clothes for a job interview,” Jefferson said. “That confirmed that the ‘Simply Giving Project” was necessary.”

The “Simply Giving Project” runs from Nov. 1st through Nov. 26th online and items can be dropped off at 2546 Deadrick Ave and monetary donations can be made securely on SICOM’s website at www.ServingInChrist.weebly.com.

The sponsors are local small businesses- RichED Consults, an education consulting firm, Cocky Cutz, a barber shop and Kreative Kustom Wear, a graphic t-shirt printing company.

FTP MOVES TO MEMPHIS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Fresh Touch Publicity (FTP), an Atlanta-based public relations firm, has relocated to Memphis. The firm's founder, TJ Jefferson, listed the city’s growing recognition for its entrepreneur development and support as a primary reason for the move. Though FTP will be headquartered in Memphis, the company still will maintain client accounts in Atlanta and other cities.

Forbes Magazine ranked Memphis No. 11 as “Best Cities for Minority Entrepreneurs” in 2011. The magazine also ranked the city as the fourth “Happiest Cities for Job-Seeking College Grads” in 2012. The Blues-loving city is also the home of nationally known companies such as FedEx and International Paper and successful home-grown businesses, such as Neely’s barbecue restaurants.

In addition, the city also offers several programs for emerging entrepreneurs. Jefferson said programs like EmergeMemphis and LaunchMemphis not only mentor business startups and existing companies, but also have the potential to connect FTP with potential clients and other networking opportunities.

“I’ve always kept up with what’s going on around Memphis,” Jefferson said. “In the last couple of years, Memphis’ name has been increasingly mentioned around business circles and I feel this move puts us in direct proximity with the growing small businesses there. And since Fresh Touch doesn’t represent celebrities, Atlanta will not miss us.”

Jefferson, a Memphis native, started the company in 2011. As an outlet for the Tennessee State University graduate to integrate her creativity, background in journalism, love for people, and helpful nature, Fresh Touch Publicity offers traditional public relations, branding, marketing, graphic design, web site design and social media services.
