Meet the #SimplyGiving Project Scavenger Hunt Participants

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Seven Memphis-based community leaders and advocates will be representing local nonprofit organizations in a city-wide scavenger hunt during Fresh Touch Publicity's 5th Annual #SimplyGiving Project, a week-long grassroots fundraiser for local nonprofits, October 4-10. The date of the actual scavenger hunt is Saturday, October 10, 11 a.m. beginning at The Candle Bakery located at 2838 Hickory Hill Rd, Ste 11. Back in May, these nonprofit organizations were nominated to be represented during the scavenger hunt: the Memphis HBCU Scholarship Foundation, H.U.S.H. Inc, It's a Girl's World, Old Path Ministries, Our Grass Our Roots, Liberated Audio, and Raising the B.A.R.

The community leaders randomly will select the nonprofit that he or she will be trying to win the grand prize for. They will be paired with a representative of that organization and they will be given clues to different businesses around the city that will lead them to the finish line.

"It was important for us to use community leaders who know the city, who are already supporting local businesses and who advocate for the smaller nonprofit organizations," said TJ Jefferson, Principal Owner of Fresh Touch Publicity. "We choose people who may not always get spotlighted but they're doing the work anyways."

Memphis, Nominate Your Fave Nonprofit for #SimplyGiving Project

Fresh Touch Publicity wants the Memphis community to nominate local nonprofits for its 5th Annual #SimplyGiving Project, a grassroots fundraiser for a local nonprofit organization. FTP’s internal team & supporters usually pick a recipient, but they wanted to make it a collaborative, community effort this year. Nominations are made online at http://ftpublicity.com/simply-giving-project/ and it runs through Friday, May 8.

The criteria to nominate a nonprofit is it has to be located and serve the city of Memphis for at least one year, has to have an annual revenue of less than $100K, and a 501c3 certification isn’t required.

“There isn’t a way for us to know about all of the nonprofits in the city so we decided to ask the people in our community,” said TJ Jefferson, Principal Owner of Fresh Touch Publicity. “We teach our clients about collaboration and here is our opportunity to practice what we preach.”

The inaugural #SimplyGiving Project was created in Atlanta in 2011, when they raised over $800 and collected groceries for a local nonprofit called H.O.P.E. Family Resource Center. FTP moved to Memphis in 2012 and raised over $2500 and collected over 1500lbs of tangible items such as food, clothes, shoes, personal hygiene items, school and kitchen supplies through the #SimplyGiving Project.

We are still finalizing sponsors so anyone who is interested can email us at simplygiving@ftpublicity.com.
